WASHINGTON — VTV Family Outreach Foundation (VTV) has voiced its support of new funding included in the Omnibus appropriations measure approved by President Obama last week that will improve college campus and school safety.
Led by Virginia Congressman Frank Wolf and with overwhelming bi-partisan support, Congress included $75 million to create a comprehensive school safety initiative and an additional $2 million to support the recently created National Center for Campus Public Safety.
“We deeply appreciate this bi-partisan Congressional support to save lives at schools and on college campuses,” VTV President Joe Samaha said. “This funding will enable the U.S. Department of Justice to provide essential safety resources for schools and colleges nationwide.”
“This funding will empower schools, colleges and universities with the technical resources they need to better prevent and respond to active shooter and other emergency situations,” said S. Daniel Carter, Director of VTV’s 32 National Campus Safety Initiative (32 NCSI). “We are grateful to Congressman Wolf and his colleagues for their leadership.”
