HENRICO, Va. – The Henrico County Public Schools will spend $2.2 million to upgrade access control security systems throughout the district.
The upgrade will involve providing standardized card-based entry systems, as well as intercom systems at school buildings across the county, Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.
School board members said the goal of the upgrade is to provide a uniform security standard that allows the schools to expand the system as needed.
Electrical Controls & Maintenance Inc. will perform the upgrades. School officials did not elaborate on the details, citing that revealing too much information could allow people to circumvent the upgrades.
