Virginia Wesleyan College Security Officer Found Dead

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A Virginia Wesleyan College security officer was killed while he was on duty Oct. 11.

Walter Zakrzewski’s body was discovered outside the student dining hall at approximately 11:30 p.m. that evening. Police would not comment on how the 57-year-old died but consider it to possibly be a homicide. According to a campus security official, the scene was gruesome. No suspects have been identified.

Zakrzewski was conducting his nightly rounds, including turning off building lights, when he lost contact with the rest of his department. Some speculate his radio did not work properly.

As a result of Zakrzewski’s death, patrols of the campus by college security officers and city police have been increased.

Anyone with information about this incident has been asked to call (888) 562-5887.
