Virginia Wesleyan College Deploys SpectraRep’s ActiveCrawl RSS for Emergency Notifications

CHANTILLY, Va.

Virginia Wesleyan University, based in Norfolk, Va., has deployed SpectraRep LLC’s ActiveCrawl RSS solution, which provides emergency desktop alert notifications straight to computers campus-wide.

Installed on the college’s computers during the holiday break, Virginia Wesleyan campus officials will use the text-based system of ActiveCrawl RSS through e2Campus, a unified emergency notification system for education, to automatically reach students, faculty and staff with critically urgent information at a moment’s notice.

“Reaching our population during critical times is our highest priority,” said Keith Moore, associate vice president for Student Affairs. “With this solution, we can collectively reach students, faculty, and staff within seconds to alert them to coastal, weather or other emergencies and provide instructions for their safe keeping.”

As a Certified Endpoint Provider of e2Campus, ActiveCrawl RSS is easily accessed through the e2Campus administrative interface to initiate and send alerts to the desktop. When activated by campus officials, alerts are delivered as pop-up text bars that scroll on the computer screen and are seen within seconds of being issued. The alerts use “stay in front” technology meaning the text crawls appear in front of any other open programs to ensure they are not missed. When idle, ActiveCrawl RSS sits unobtrusively in the desktop tray.

Additional information on the suite of ActiveAccess solutions for emergency alerting is available at www.spectrarep.com/products/activeaccess or by emailing sales@activeaccess.com to request a personal demonstration.
