ViRDI International, a brand of biometric company Union Community Co. Ltd, announced an access control solution in collaboration with Avigilon that incorporates ViRDI readers and integration into Avigilon’s Access Control Manager software.
The announcement means Avigilon will bring an extra layer of authentication to its existing access control system that already includes card and mobile-based access. ViRDI readers connect physically to Avigilon’s Mercury Controllers via RS485, using SIA OSDP secure protocol.
The first release of the solution will support ViRDI’s AC-2000 and AC- 5000 Plus fingerprint card terminals, while future supported products that are being considered include the AC-1100, AC-2100 Plus, and AC-2200 access control terminals.
In addition to the hardware compatibility, ViRDI’s Biometrics Manager Software integrates into Avigilon’s ACM software so biometric data can be easily added to user’s identity credentials.
