GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The 9/11 attacks 10 years ago changed the way Michigan hospitals address security. Besides installing more security measures, hospitals have also created emergency management positions.
Metro Health hospital was designed after 9/11 and developers used input from the Department of Homeland Security, WZZM13 reports. Strategically placed columns prevent cars from being driven through the front door of the facility, and the hospital increased the number of security cameras to 128.
