Vanderbilt University Police Officer Killed in Traffic Accident

NASHVILLE, Tenn., A Vanderbilt University police officer was killed in an auto wreck while driving to work in a rainstorm Dec. 14.

Officer Douglas Bailey, 49, who had regular shifts in the university hospital’s emergency room, lost control of his pick-up truck as he was headed to work early for a holiday party. He had been with the Vanderbilt police department since 2002.

Bailey is survived by his wife Carol and his parents.
