ROANOKE, Va. – The state of Virginia has reached an agreement with the parents of a Virginia Tech student who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2007.
In their wrongful death lawsuit, the parents of Daniel Sun Kim alleged that the school failed to adequately respond to an explicit warning that their 21-year-old son had attempted suicide and was planning to try again, reports the Pilotonline.com. They also claimed the school did not follow its own protocols.
The state has agreed to pay $250,000 and create a $100,000 scholarship fund but did not admit any wrongdoing.
