At the Aug. 13 launch of the 32 National Campus Safety Initiative (32NCSI), VTV Family Outreach Foundation member Colin Goddard described what he experienced during the April 16, 2007 mass shooting at Virginia Tech.

Although Goddard survived, 32 Virginia Tech students and faculty members lost their lives during that active shooter incident.

The Virginia Tech tragedy has prompted the VTV Family Outreach Foundation to create the 32 National Campus Safety Initiative (32NCSI,) which is a series of free, confidential, online self-assessment tools, covering alcohol and drug abuse prevention and intervention, campus public safety, emergency management, hazing, mental health, missing students, physical security sexual violence and threat assessments.
