MADISON, Wis. – A 21-year-old University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) student was found dead April 2 in her off-campus apartment.
The following day, the Dane county coroner’s office determined that Brittany Zimmermann, a junior majoring in medical biology and immunology, was a victim of homicide, adding that she had a series of traumatic injuries. However, the types of injuries Zimmermann suffered from were not revealed because of the ongoing investigation.
The victim’s boyfriend discovered her body and has been ruled out as a suspect. Police said he has been very cooperative.
According to Channel3000 news, students are more anxious going to and from class, knowing the crime was not too far from campus. Security personnel for the university have offered extra tips and precautions for students, including SAFEwalk and SAFEride programs on campus.
Additionally, security staff are present in certain areas at the university.
