A Davis County bus driver has been arrested for a DUI after driving erratically on the way to a field trip with a school bus full of children. The bus driver was 39-year-old Lycia Martinez. She has been working with the school district for six years, reports Fox 13. There were 75 people including children and parents on board the bus.

Utah Highway patrol told Fox 13 that they received a call from a parent on the bus who noticed the bus driver driving erratically. Highway patrol also received a second call from another driver who said the bus was swerving between lanes. Once the police had pulled the bus over they noticed the driver seemed “lethargic” and that she did not seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation. Four bottles of prescription pills were found in her purse. Police believe she may have been under the influence of the pills, but are still investigating the matter.

The bus driver has been placed on paid administrative leave.
