The University of Arkansas released a statement informing the public that it no longer allows drones on its property or in its air space.
The university’s new policy will ban all unmanned aircraft systems or remote controlled model aircraft with few exceptions, according to thv11.com.

The move is an attempt to maintain campus security while protecting student privacy, according to Steve Gahagans, the school’s police director.
The restrictions apply to privately owned and business drones, and extend to any equipment needed to use the aircraft.
The school will make an exception to the new ban if the drone operator receives advanced approval for drone use from the school’s provost and vice provost for research and economic development.
Colleges have considered restricting drone use after several incidents where students’ privacy and safety has come into question, perhaps most notably when a student flew a drone over a packed football stadium at the University of Texas last year.
