UConn Approves New Child, Sex Abuse Policies

HARTFORD, Conn. — University of Connecticut’s Board of Trustees approved two new policies Jan. 25 requiring UConn staff to report suspected sexual abuse or child abuse to one of three campus offices.

The Sexual Assault Response Policy requires staff to report to the school’s Title IX coordinator, the Office of Community Standards or the Office of Diversity and Equity, NBC reports.

The Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Policy clarifies the obligations of university employees who are “mandated reporters” under the law and must report to the Department of Children and Families.
