UCI Suspends Security Officer Accused of Anti-Semitic and Racist Behavior

Published: November 4, 2013

IRVINE, Calif. — The University of California, Irvine (UCI) has placed one of its security officers on leave for anti-Semitic and racist images on his Instagram account.

Carlos Vazquez posted images on his social media account featuring him watching a video about Hitler in the campus security office. Another contained photo shopped images of his children with Adolf Hitler, as well as an image of a black family asking when the father would be coming home from prison, Raw Story reports.

A spokesperson for UCI said that although she found the images loathsome, Vazquez did not violate school policy because the content was posted on a personal account.

Vazquez also served as a public safety officer at Golden West College. The college fired Vazquez following a local news station reported his anti-Semitic behavior.
