A conservative speech scheduled for June 14 at the University of Central Florida was cancelled after Orlando police said they lacked adequate security resources to ensure security at the event.
The school, which is in the same city as the mass shooting that left 50 people dead June 12, was planning on using campus and city police to provide security for the controversial event, reports dailycaller.com.
The conservative media personality Milo Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak about Islam and homosexuality at the school as part of his “Dangerous Faggot Tour.” The tour has regularly drawn protests that Campus Safety has previously reported on.

The speech was set for the same day as a candlelight vigil on campus that “would restrict the amount of security available to Milo and the event attendees” according to UCF College Republicans Chairman Karis Lockhart.
Yiannopoulos tweeted that he would be speaking off campus in Orlando June 15 and would provide private security for guests and journalists. “This is America. Islamist thugs will not stop a gay man from expressing his views,” Yiannopoulos tweeted.
No threats against Yiannopoulos have been reported.
