UC Davis Chancellor Discusses Protest Mistakes

DAVIS, Calif. — University of California, Davis (UC Davis) Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi identified specific mistakes she made during a campus pepper-spray incident to lawmakers Tuesday.

Katehi said she should not have set a deadline for the removal of protesters or allowed officers to intervene in the late afternoon, The Sacramento Bee reports. She also identified policy deficiencies that led to the incident.

The university is developing a “comprehensive blueprint for change” to be unveiled within the next few weeks.
