BERKELEY, Calif. — UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau sent out a campus-wide E-mail on Feb. 3 outlining the responsibilities of campus community members to report child abuse to law enforcement.
According to the E-mail, all UC employees are required by law to report crimes against children to law enforcement, The Daily Californian reports.
Birgeneau said the E-mail was in response to reports of “serious incidents” involving child abuse at other universities.
