BOULDER, Colo.—The University of Colorado (CU) has paid $32,000 to a woman who claims the school violated Title IX in its handling of her sexual assault case.
The Daily Camera learned of the settlement under the Colorado Open Records Act. CU settled with the woman in February.
The woman’s claims prompted the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) to investigate the school. The investigation is ongoing.
Sarah Gilchriese says she was sexually assaulted by a fellow student. The Associated Press is reporting that the punishment for her assailant was an eight-month suspension and $75 fine.
CU is in the process of hiring a Title IX coordinator.
