MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin, Madison will install new IP cameras around the campus, thanks to a new initiative by the University of Wisconsin Police Department (UWPD).
The university will install the new cameras in the La Bahn Arena, a recently finished hockey and swimming facility, as well as other buildings on campus that currently use analog cameras, The Badger Herald reports.
The benefit of IP camera technology is that it allows for more effective placement of the cameras across campus and it produces higher quality images to help UWPD during investigations, according to the department’s Sgt. Nicolas Banuelos.
