U. of Tenn. Closes 3 Frat Houses Due to Fire Hazards

KNOXVILLE, TENN.
Published: December 18, 2008

Three University of Tennessee (UT) frat houses have been closed after failing an inspection by the state Fire Marshal. The Fire Marshal inspected the Pi Kappa Phi, Lambda Chi Alpha and Sigma Phi Epsilon houses after a fire alarm complaint.

Several exits were reported as being improperly marked and a few door hinges were failing. Students will not be allowed to enter back into the houses until the fire hazards are fixed.

Ten UT houses still await inspection, most of which are on the university property but are owned by the fraternities.
