University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), located in Rochester, NY, has selected Voltage Security Inc.’s Voltage SecureMail™ to ease and protect email communications between employees, customers and partners. The agreement includes 15,000 licenses for enterprise Voltage Security Network™ (VSN), a fully managed hosted solution that provides URMC users with on-demand access to encrypted emails, files and documents, which allows URMC’s email system to fulfill HIPAA, PCI, Sarbanes-Oxley and other compliance mandates.

URMC is part of New York’s Rochester Regional Healthcare Association, which consists of healthcare providers, state and local government and payors. The unique architecture provided by Voltage Security, which leverages Identity-Based Encryption (IBE) technology, ensures seamless communication across the association. External recipients use the same credentials regardless of which association member sends them a secure message.

“Voltage SecureMail offers URMC a rare combination – peace of mind with ease of use,” said Rick Haverty, director of IS infrastructure at URMC. “It’s an ideal solution for the Rochester Regional Healthcare Association to consider as we all seek to communicate and collaborate securely.”

“We needed a scalable solution that was easy for URMC employees, including doctors and healthcare providers, as well as patients, payors, and other providers,” added Chip Nimick, project director, information security, URMC. “Voltage SecureMail fulfills those needs.” In addition to highest usability, organizations benefit from the system’s centralized and highly scalable key management.
