U. of Miami Investigates Officers’ Apprehension of Suspect

Two University of Miami police officers are being investigated for questioning a student at gunpoint, only to discover that they had apprehended the wrong person.

The confrontation between the two unidentified officers and Jordan Chusid happened Aug. 26 in a campus parking garage and was videotaped by communications students who were practicing with their cameras for class. The video was posted on the Miami Hurricane’s Web site. (Story continues below.)

Chusid was apprehended by the officers because he looked like the suspect who was wanted for attempted motorcycle theft. He was not arrested.

According to the Miami Hurricane, Police Chief David Rivero could not comment on the case because it is currently being investigated.
