COLLEGE PARK, Md. — A 19-year-old student from the University of Maryland was arrested and charged for posting a threat online. The post warned people to “stay away from the mall” because the student was planning to “kill enough people to make it to national news.”
Alexander Song was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after being arrested on March 11, the Associated Press reports. The university is planning to suspend Song and has banned him from campus pending a review.
Song was charged with disturbing the orderly conduct of the activities, administration or classes at the campus, a misdemeanor, The Baltimore Sun reports. Capt. Marc Limansky said that Song did not have access to a weapon.
