U. of Hawaii Faces Lawsuit in 4 Major Data Breaches

HONOLULU — Attorneys for the victims of data breaches at the University of Hawaii said they were not satisfied by the release of a consultant’s report that acknowledged four major breaches affecting nearly 100,000 current and former students.

The report stated that the breaches were the result of a lack of funding for information technology security and the absence of a system wide approach to managing decentralized information, KITV reports. The report also listed 22 proposed changes, including some that require immediate action.

A class action suit is being brought against the university because of the security breaches.
