KREMMLING, Colo. — In response to the child sex abuse scandal at Penn State, the University of Colorado regents suggested that university leaders be required to quickly report crimes or potential scandals to the board.
The idea was discussed at a three-day retreat in which the board performed an assessment on topics ranging from seating arrangements at meetings to how the board sets tuition, the Daily Camera reports. Many CU officials said it is common sense to share potentially scandalous information with the board.
The university improved the oversight of its athletics several years ago after two women claimed in a lawsuit that CU fostered an environment that was unsafe for women and used sex and alcohol to lure recruits.
