U. Conn. Shuttle Driver Arrested in Student Death

STORRS, Conn. — University of Connecticut police arrested the driver of a campus shuttle bus who struck and killed a student with the vehicle on March 22.

Lukasz Gilewski turned himself in on July 15 after learning about a warrant for his arrest, Mansfield-Storrs Patch reports. He was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

An investigation found that the student, David N. Plamondon, was walking in a pedestrian crosswalk at the time of the accident. Plamondon died due to the severity of his injuries.
