MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents approved Friday reallocating $4.1 million to enhance school security.
Since August, the institution has experienced a spike in campus crime, including 18 robberies, CBS Minnesota reports.
The increase drove university personnel to designate funds, originally designated for the school’s Repair and Replacement program, to increase security.
The university will use $350,000 for additional security cameras, $250,000 for improved lighting on campus and $3.5 million for enhanced building access control.
