TSA Issues Alert To School Bus Operators

ALBANY, N.Y. – The National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) has issued a special bulletin on a potential security risk that has come to light.

The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) has reported that dubious attempts to purchase used school buses have taken place in the Northeast region of the United States as recently as the end of July. There has been no sign of terrorist-related activity; however, the incidents could indicate a troubling trend.

If school bus operators or their employees receive unusual inquiries about purchasing used buses (not ordinary inquiries from known or legitimate buyers), they should contact the Highway Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC)  at (866) 784-7221 or enter information on the “Submit an Incident Report” link at www.surfacetransportationisac.org.
