Troy U. Students Criticize Delay of Security Camera Installation

Published: April 5, 2011

TROY, Ala. — Troy University has not installed security cameras on campus after officials in January announced plans to do so. The installation was a response to the kidnapping and assault of a student who lived near campus.

Students say that security on the campus has increased since Jordan Middlebrooks was attacked, CBS 8 reports. However, the university has not installed the 15 security cameras it promised.

According to Troy University Dean of Student Services Herbert Reeves, the university completed the installation of security lights on Thursday. He told the news source that the cameras would be installed sometime this summer. The cameras would be tested during the summer months and made fully operational by fall.

Middlebrooks’ attacker has still not been found.
