Troubled Ga. District Hires New Police Chief

MACON, Ga. — Bibb County Schools has hired a new police chief following several violent incidents on its campuses in the past few weeks.

Russell Bentley’s tentative start date with the district is Oct. 1, 13 WMAZ reports. Most recently, he worked for Safe Havens International as a Senior Analyst. The company conducted an audit of the district and discovered serious discipline issues.

Bentley’s experience with Safe Havens International isn’t considered a conflict of interest, according to Deputy Superintendent of Student Affairs Ed Judie.
