Texas District Cuts Campus Police Force

SAN ANTONIO — The Schertz Cibolo Universal City Independent School District voted unanimously at a board meeting on Tuesday to lay off its entire campus police department.

Officials say the move will help the district reach its goal of saving at least $14 million over the next two years, KENS5.com reports. They hope to accomplish this without cutting any teaching jobs or doing last minute layoffs next summer.

Campus security will be handled by local police departments. The officers will have immediate access to school administrators via walkie talkie.
