A 19-year-old female student has pleaded guilty to setting fires at the College of Mount St. Joseph earlier this year. Another student died of a heart attack while he was evacuating the building during the incident, according to the Associated Press.
Jordan Cullen pleaded guilty to aggravated arson July 7. As a result, prosecutors dropped another arson charge.
On March 5, Cullen set fire to the school’s art building and in her dormitory. The fires were contained by the building’s automatic sprinkler systems. Additionally, they caused $20,000 in damages.
During the incident, Daviene Hutsell, a 28-year-old student at the college, died of a heart attack during a campus evacuation. Another person was treated for smoke inhalation at a nearby hospital.
Cullen faces no charges in the death. She is currently out on bond until she is sentenced Aug. 4. Cullen could receive up to five years in prison.
