Teen Charged With Attempted Murder of Campus Police Officer

LAKE WORTH, Fla., A 15-year-old boy is suspected of driving a stolen truck Nov. 8 to Lake Worth Middle School and ramming a school police officer-driven golf cart.

The suspect was arrested Nov. 9 and charged with attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, attempted second-degree murder and grand theft auto.

There were also two passengers in the truck, but neither have been charged. Their involvement is still under investigation.

Police officer Hans Austin was the driver of the golf cart. He was investigating why the truck being driven by the suspect was approaching the school. During the incident, Austin fired three shots at the vehicle, none of which hit the target.

Austin sustained head and other injuries.
