LONG BEACH, Calif. — A 17-year-old student from Millikan High School was arrested after his classmates reported threats on Facebook. He has been charged with making criminal threats and obstruction of justice.
During a preliminary investigation, Long Beach Police officers discovered that the student – who had not yet been identified – befriended a group of students on Facebook a week earlier, according to a Long Beach Police Department press release. Over the next few days, the suspect made threats to harm the students he befriended.
Officers discovered the identity of the suspect and took him into custody on April 21. He was booked at the department’s Youth Services Division and later released to his parents.
