Tasered Ohio Hospital Patient Sues Hospital

TOLEDO, Ohio – A 67-year-old man is suing St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after he was shot with a stun gun and beaten by security guards a year ago, according to CBS News. Parts of the incident were captured on the hospital’s surveillance camera.

Al Poisson was reportedly visiting a friend in the hospital when he approached a security officer who appeared to be in a bad mood. Poisson maintains that he was trying to encourage the security officer to cheer up; however, he was taken out of the building where officers used a stun gun on him and beat him down to the ground.

Poisson adds that the incident occurred in front of his son and six-year-old grandson.

Hospital officials maintain that it was Poisson who provoked and attacked security staff. Initially, the hospital had the man arrested for alleged assault, but the charges have since been dropped. Additionally, the hospital said the security officers handled the situation appropriately.
