NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A lab technician from Yale University who was charged in the murder of a Yale graduate student plans to plead guilty, according to his attorney. Raymond Clark III allegedly strangled Annie Le, 24, less than a week before she was to be married.
Clark had originally pleaded not guilty in January 2010, CNN reports. Public defender Joseph Lopez told the news source his client will plead guilty on Thursday in New Haven, Conn., Superior Court as part of a plea bargain. The details of the bargain have not been disclosed.
Le’s body was discovered inside a wall of the Yale lab building four days after her disappearance on September 8, 2009. The motive for the murder is unclear; police are treating the case as workplace violence.
Clark had worked as a lab technician at Yale since 2004 but was not a student. Le was pursuing a doctorate in pharmacology at the time of her death.
