Suspect Arrested In Clemson Student Murder Case
CENTRAL, S.C. – A registered sex offender has confessed to the May 26 murder of a Clemson University student.
Jerry Buck Inman, 35, was arrested June 6 in Tennessee after DNA found on the victim, Tiffany Souers, was tested and determined to be a match to Inman’s DNA.
Souers, a junior who was taking summer classes, had been strangled with her bikini top and her hands and wrists had been bound. She was found in her bedroom by her roommate and boyfriend.
Authorities do not believe Inman knew the victim. According to officials, prior to his attack, the suspect drove around Souers’ neighborhood and was attracted to her because of her appearance.
Inman also confessed to sexual assaults in Tennessee and Alabama. Police speculate that in addition to those rapes and Souers’ murder, he may have other victims. Inman was previously convicted of sex offenses in Florida and served 16 years in jail. He was released in 2005. He is also a registered sex offender in North Carolina.
