Surveillance Footage Help Solve Crimes

NEW YORK and BUCKNER COUNTY, Ky. – In two separate incidents, footage captured by video surveillance cameras have been key evidence in solving the cases.

In New York, an 18-year-old male was arrested for robbing a 62-year-old Catholic school computer teacher at Good Shepherd School.

In the 15-second surveillance video, the victim, Patricia McGowan was getting out of her vehicle when Eric Ferguson knocked her to the ground in a one-hand punch and took her bag and vehicle.

Elsewhere in Buckner County, Ky., security footage of a fight at Oldham County Middle School June 6 was subpoenaed by the county attorney’s office, as a result of one parent pressing charges.

Lynn Conway alleges that her son was playing basketball at the school when another student hit him twice in the face. She believes the footage will show her son being attacked by the other student.

Letters of notification were sent out to the parents of students who are shown in the footage. Parents who do not want their child displayed have until June 27 to object; however, the objections must go through the court and not school officials.

Oldham County Attorney John Fendley said the school district was cooperating appropriately to the subpoena.
