PHILADELPHIA — Police have located a five-year-old Bryant Elementary School student who was allegedly abducted from her classroom on Monday morning.
Surveillance footage shows a woman covered with an all-black niqab, a piece of cloth that covers her face, taking Nailla Robinson off school premises around 8:50 a.m. — five minutes after the child’s mother had dropped her off at school, Good Morning America reports. It wasn’t until Robinson’s day care arrived to pick her up — six hours later — that school officials realized she was gone.
The abductor, who knew the student by name, pretended to be Robinson’s mother and signed her out at the office. A substitute teacher released the child into the stranger’s care. Robinson was found Tuesday morning in a nearby park.
District officials released a statement noting that Bryant Elementary performed major procedural violations, as no adult is allowed to go to any classrooms to check children out.
