Supreme Court Justice’s Nephew Allegedly Beaten by Hospital Security

NEW ORLEANS—Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ nephew who has epilepsy suffered a seizure after West Jefferson Medical Center security officers allegedly beat him and hit him with a stun gun in the emergency room.

Derek Thomas, 24, was seeking an evaluation at the hospital on July 8 after becoming emotionally unstable, according to The Washington Post. However, when a doctor asked him to put on a hospital gown, he decided that he wanted to leave. Thomas and his family allege that hospital security tried to force the patient to put on the gown.

A scuffle ensued in which Thomas was reportedly punched in the lip, had a fist full of his hair pulled out and shocked by a Taser.
