Study: Prescription Drug Abuse Increased With Internet Use

A study from Massachusetts General Hospital and the University of Southern California (USC) found that the expansion of high-speed internet saw a large increase in admission for prescription drug abuse treatment.

According to senior author Dana Goldman, prescription drugs are replacing illegal substances on college campuses across the country, Health News reports.

Eighty-five percent of Web sites that sell these medications do not require prescriptions for their purchase. In addition, the prices charged by the Web sites are much lower than brand name drugs from other sources because they obtain their drug supplies from foreign countries.
