NORCROSS, Ga. – After a student tested positive for tuberculosis (TB) at Meadowcreek High School, students will be tested for the disease, according to CBS affiliate Channel 46.
The school sent letters to parents, whose children may have had close contact with the infected party, Oct. 3. The infected student has not been identified.
The whole student body will probably not be tested, officials said. However, students who may be contaminated will have to take a skin test.
Symptoms for TB include coughing, chest pain and coughing up blood. The disease is airborne, and can be treated with medication, though it can take between six months and a year for the disease to vanish.
