Students Suspended For Wearing White

SOQUEL, Calif. — Several students from Soquel High School were suspended on May 25 for wearing clothing associated with the white supremacist movement. The students are also suspected of being involved in a rash of racist graffiti on campus.

The suspensions ignited a protest, with some students supporting their suspended friends and others speaking out against the racial activity, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reports. Many students claimed that two of the suspended students have no ties to the white supremacist movement.

The suspended students stood together wearing white shirts and bandanas at a photo shoot for the senior class picture. At least one parent alleges her child was wearing white for an unrelated reason and was placed next to the other students in white by the photographer.
