Student Fatally Stabs Classmate for Rejecting Prom Invitation

A 16-year-old Jonathan Law High School student allegedly fatally stabbed a girl in the neck and torso after she refused his invitation for prom.

HARTFORD, Conn. – A 16-year-old student was stabbed to death at Jonathan Law High School on Friday.

The victim, Maren Sanchez, was an athlete and honor student at the school. She was allegedly stabbed by another 16-year-old student, Chris Plaskon, when she refused his invitation for prom, Associated Press reports.

A medical examiner revealed that Sanchez died of wounds to her torso and neck.

The incident occurred just hours before the prom, prompting school officials to postpone the event.

Plaskon, described as a generally friendly person, currently remains under observation at a medical center. He is presently being charged as a juvenile, but it is expected that he will eventually be charged as an adult.
