A New York college student has threatened to carry out a “Virginia Tech-Style” killing spree on his St. John’s University campus.
Radames Santiago, 18, has been charged with making terrorist threats. His Facebook posts allegedly cited the Virginia Tech shooting after saying “people should watch as he carried out a killing spree on his campus,” according to Fox News.
The teen allegedly also posted a message saying he would do it to “make sure that people watch CNN or something every day after.”
St. John’s University officials called police after Facebook users notified the university. Santiago was arrested a short time later.
Santiago allegedly told police he was drunk and depressed when he posted the comments on Facebook; however, police are still taking the social networking threat seriously.
If convicted, Santiago could face up to seven years in prison.
