A former Florida high school student is suing the school’s principal for allegedly violating her freedom of speech. According to WAToday.com, the 18-year-old was suspended for cyberbullying her teacher on Facebook, a popular social networking site.

The plaintiff claims the discipline violated her freedom of speech rights and “stained” her academic record.

The student had created a Facebook group in November 2007 that named the teacher as “the worst teacher” the student had ever met. The 18-year-old then asked friends to join the group.

The school authorities suspended the student for three days and removed her from the advanced placement classes she was taking.
