RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina State University student was involuntarily committed last month at VA Hospital in Durham after telling campus police he planned to go on a killing spree, according to a court document.
The student, a former Marine who served two tours of duty in Iraq, told officers he had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder, WRAL.com reports. He also said he would daydream in class about robbing banks and killing people, as well as draw maps and outline the weapons he would use.
The student also said he wanted to kill a law enforcement officer to gain access to the Hells Angels motorcycle gang.
Campus police contacted Wake County prosecutors about the student, but authorities said an investigation turned up no real threat.
