Student Commits Suicide at Pennsylvania High School

PHILADELPHIA – A student brought a rifle to Springfield Township High School and shot himself to death Dec. 12.

According to the school’s Web site, “Shots were fired. Some students left the building. What we know is that an unidentified student shot himself. Nobody else has been injured.”

The school was immediately locked down, and parents were encouraged to stay away until more information was available. Later, parents were allowed to pick up their children from the middle school cafeteria. Classes were cancelled at the High School for the remainder of the day.

The shooting occurred about 13 miles north of Philadelphia.
