Published: August 17, 2010

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—With the help of $700,000 in federal stimulus funds, the Little Rock School District will deploy video surveillance cameras at roughly 30 buildings throughout the district.

The cameras, placed inside and outside buildings, will be linked to monitors at the schools and the office of the district coordinator for closed circuit television security, reports TodaysTHV.com.

Cameras will be placed in elementary schools for the first time, while middle schools and high schools will receive upgrades to their existing systems. The installations are scheduled to be completed in September.

District officials said no specific incidents caused the security upgrade.
