Published: February 4, 2014

YONKERS, N.Y. — A St. John’s Riverside Hospital employee broke her leg Monday morning as she fled from smoke that came from a fire ignited in the facility’s basement laundry room.

Firefighters arrived at the hospital around 9:19 a.m. and contained the fire within 45 minutes. The incident prompted hospital officials to place the facility under a partial in-place evacuation, moving patients and visitors to areas unaffected by the fire, The Daily Voice reports.

The employee injured herself on a flight of steps, LoHud.com reports. No other injuries were reported.

It is unclear what started the fire.
